What is SLA Interpreting and Translating? – Sign Language Australia

  • SLA Interpreting/translating is Australia’s newest Auslan/English interpreting/translating service.
  • SLA Interpreting/translating is based in Adelaide, South Australia.
  • SLA Interpreting/translating is the only independent, interpreting service provider owned and operated by Deaf people in South Australia.
  • SLA Interpreting/translating is a social enterprise, and a percentage of profits is invested back into the on-going development of SLA Interpreting/translating services.
  • SLA Interpreting/translating will commence operations in early 2019.
  • SLA Interpreting/translating is ready to position itself as one of South Australia’s primary interpreting and translating service providers in 2019.
  • SLA employs a wide range of qualified and experienced interpreters and translators

Aim 2:            To provide sign language interpreters and translators with professional development services of the highest possible quality;
Aim 3:            To provide training for customers, regarding how to book and work with an interpreter or a translator. 

Exploring creative depths:

  • SLA Interpreting/Translating develops relationships between Auslan/English interpreters, translators, customers, and our booking services coordinator.

From the Beginning:
 

A need for an independent Deaf-owned and operated and interpreting/translating service provider was identified after some interpreters, some translators and SA Deaf Community members expressed a desire for an alternative provider in the market.

Thus, SLA Interpreting/translating was established.
